Crown Oil – A Review of 2019
Posted on 19th December 2019
2019 is complete and it’s been another year to be proud of at Crown Oil. But this year has been particularly momentous, as we have taken bold steps to become more sustainable in a bid to help reduce our – and our customers’ – carbon footprint.
We have also continued to place a focus on community and charity work which has enabled us to be involved with a large number of great projects and local causes over the last 12 months.
So with great pleasure, we present to you a summary of Crown Oil’s 2019.
The Beast was Back
The UK was battered by widespread snow and temperatures plummeted to a record low, which meant it was extremely busy for Crown Oil deliveries. Luckily, our fleet of tankers were still able to deliver fuel UK-wide thanks to our strategically placed oil depots.
This charity is so good you WOOD not believe it
We donated £100 for The Friends of Hopwood Park to help towards future plans at The Tree House Café, a friendly and low-cost community café selling a variety of snacks and meals.
Our fleet had a makeover
We added new tankers to our fleet to increase UK coverage and reduce our overall emissions. The new additions brought our fleet size to 25, ranging from 500-litre capacity mini tankers to large articulated 36,000-litre capacity tankers.
We dressed to impress
We held our Crown Annual Dinner with The Greatest Showman theme to celebrate everyone’s successes, a night which was enjoyed by all!
Our website had a facelift
After months of hard work and dedication, we launched our brand-new website. It had a much-needed refurb and was designed with you in mind, to improve navigation through our wide-ranging product and service offering.
Running to success
We were the t-shirt sponsor of the TH96 Run which took place to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young, in memory of Tom Hardman who died aged 21 in 2012. All money raised helps the charity run local heart screenings, where anyone can attend aged 14+.
Scouting for Ashworth Valley
We were involved with building Ashworth Valley Scout Campsite’s new dipping pond and were proud to be able to provide a donation to help with the construction.
Hot off the press
Our sister company, Crown Oil Environmental featured in the Spring Edition of Tanks & Terminals magazine to discuss how to tackle troublesome tank corrosion.
Helping everyday heroes
We sponsored the Thin Blue Line UK Annual Gala Ball, where all funds raised went to The Police Treatment Centres who assist the support and aftercare of injured police officers.
The superstars of tomorrow
We sponsored the FC Bury U14s (aka The Vipers) on their tour to Holland. We look forward to seeing their names up in lights in the future!
Eggcellent Easter Egg hunt
We ran a Guess How Many Easter Eggs Are in the Fuel Barrel competition. We donated all of the Easter Eggs to Hopwood Park and Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Bury and gave the winner a £50 Love2Shop voucher. There were 161 Easter Eggs in the barrel and with 3 guesses of 160, we drew the names out of a hat and Lorraine was the worthy winner.
50 and fabulous
We’re thrilled to have been ranked in the Business Leader’s list of Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies in Greater Manchester.
We took part in Football Shirt Friday to mark Bowel Cancer Awareness month and raised over £200 for The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.
Looking for a fresh start?
We launched our new dedicated careers site, making it easy for you to find the right role for you. Why not take a look to see if we’re looking for your skills right now?
Hot off the press
We featured in the spring edition of Envirotec Magazine, showcasing our innovative tank telemetry solutions and showing readers how systems like ours can increase efficiency across their operations.
We ran for Cystic Fibrosis
Some of our colleagues completed the Manchester Run to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
We remembered the 22
One of our drivers showcased his proud Manchester roots and featured the Bee Symbol on his tanker to remember the 22 lives that were lost in the Manchester Arena attack 2 years ago.

We streamlined your fleet
We partnered up with Harvest Fuel Cards to launch a new addition to Crown Oil’s business fuels offering, helping you keep track of your drivers’ fuel usage whilst giving you the keys to better budget management. To reward our colleagues for all their hard work, we ran a raffle to say a big thank you.
