The First Company to be Approved Under the New RFAS Heat-Power-Marine
At Crown Oil, we’re proud to support the launch of RFAS Heat-Power-Marine, an important extension of Zemo Partnership’s Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme (RFAS) that has been designed to bring greater robust and independently verified fuel traceability to new sectors beyond road transport.
As one of the early adopters of the original RFAS, Crown Oil has seen firsthand how the scheme provides trust in renewable fuel supply chains. RFAS offers a credible and auditable way to demonstrate the provenance, sustainability and greenhouse gas (GHG) savings of renewable fuels, helping organisations transition away from fossil fuels with confidence. Until now, however, these benefits have only been available to sectors covered by the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO).
That meant despite having a strong appetite for decarbonisation, organisations in the heat, maritime and standby power sectors were often left without the tools to validate their renewable fuel purchases. In many cases, they’ve had to rely on non-standardised or suboptimal guarantees, creating uncertainty around the environmental impact of their decisions. RFAS Heat-Power-Marine fills that gap.
This new scheme applies the same rigorous, third-party verified standards of the original RFAS to non-road fuel uses, giving businesses in these sectors a clear framework for:
- Demonstrating fuel provenance
- Accurately reporting GHG savings
- Meeting sustainability and compliance requirements
- Gaining transparency across the supply chain
